The greatest advantage of this motel is its location. With heaps of restaurants, cafes and shops within 5 minute walk. If you're looking for a central location, then this is a good choice. It's also near North Terrace, the convention centre, Rundle Mall, the train station and bus and tram stops. Beds and amenities are comfortable but don't expect much. The building and interiors are old so everything is dated. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Free internet at the lobby during reception hours.

We got a really good price for our room as it was on a deal. The room itself was very nice, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated however the staff were polited, there were no other issues. Just be aware parking is $20.00 across the street.

We checked in on the evennig of the SA state wide power blackout - a surreal experience with the whole city and state plunged into total darkness. The reception staff were amazing, calm and considerate. Checked us in by torchlight, carried our luggage by torchlight up five flights of stairts to our room on the top floor given the lifts weren't working, and then gave us the torch for the rest of our stay so we could make our way in the city to find some food for the evening. Luckily Woolworths in the Rundle Mall had kept its doors open and we were able to get some provisions to tide us over. Throughout our four day stay we had a wonderful friendly service, Thank you Varun and team

The Adelaide Paringa was well situated right near Rundle Mall and walking distance to the Art Gallery and other buildings of interest. The staff were very pleasant and our room, though small was quiet as it was at the back. The bathrooms did need updating and the plumbing was noisy with the hot water a bit touchy. We would stay again as it was very reasonably priced and comfortable.

I was not really looking forward to staying in Hindley Street, but was wrong. The Adelaide Paringa is a very nice place to stay, the staff are top class and very helpful and friendly. The rooms are very well appointed and are extremely comfortable, you hear very little street noise, which was my concern before staying there. The important thing was we all slept very well in the comfortable beds

A small hotel just off the main road. No frills but perfect for the money. Has lifts for those with heavy bags. Some rooms have street views others not. Double glazed windows keeps down the street noise. Very close to shops and food. Would definately stay again.

We stayed here for two nights the, location is very good for the price. While it's hard to turn around in the alley they have parking in the sister hotel across the road which is a slightly better looking hotel but for $75.00 a night we were happy with the room. If you walk out of the alley to the left there is an old pub and a block away is the casino. There are heaps of eateries and drinking spots all within walking distance from the Adelaide Paringa. The hotel itself had no views but nice staff and basic amenities.

I have stayed at this small hotel a number of times over the years. I like it because its old world, its so very convenient and has all the facilities you need. It does not have a restaurant or room service meals, but it is so handy to many cafes. They do have packaged breakfast in the room along with other snacks and bar fridge. Tea and plunger coffee supplied free.

This tiime around we were given room 102 for our two night stay at the Adelaide Paringa, a huge room with 2 queen beds. When I realised that our room faced the bustling / noisy Hindley Street I was initially worried especially since we were sleeping there on Friday and Saturday nights. But my fears were unfounded. The lower rooms had their windows double glazed so the noise from outside was extremely minimized. Nicole at the reception also helped us out with the flight check in and printing of the board passes. A minor issue was trying to manage two shower taps to get the water with the right temperature, at times it would be too hot and then all of a sudden it would get too cold. The small blip in the shower did not prevent us from having a wonderful stay in Adelaide. We will be back for sure.

I stayed here with my partner over the weekend for 3 nights. I got a reasonable prices and the location could not have been more perfect for us. It is located on Hindley Street, which is the bars, clubs and restaurant hub and right opposite the road from the Rundle Mall, the shopping hub of Adelaide. The streets are extremely noisy and busy at night however we were surprised that we could sleep so well with little noise distraction and the windows and walls were well protected. The hotel is clearly dated however the rooms are really big and spacious. The staff were really helpful and really friendly, although take note that the reception desk is not available at all hours but we did not have a problem with this.

Good location, walking distance to Rundle Mall and Museum. Rooms were clean and basic. Bathrooms a little dated. Staff were friendly and gave us good information for local attractions. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

Stayed here as we knew we would be staying late in the city. Great city centre location, clean and comfortable and a cheap rate. Bathroom was a little dated but functional. Not going to compete with the big boys but for the price I couldn't fault it. Check in and out staff very pleasant and efficient and had a great night sleep. Would use again for a stopover.
Lou Commented on - 29-Jul-2016 02:18 PM
We stayed here at the beginning and end of a 3 week road trip up the Stuart Highway. Both nights we missed main check in and had to pop over the road to check in at their sister property. Check in both times was quick and easy, the staff were excellent. Room was cosy, if a little worn. Heating was easy to operate and after a 23 hour flight the shower was superb, lovely and hot. Couldn't hear any street noise and not a peep out of our neighbours. But most importantly the bed was amazing. We would definately stay here again if we come back to Adelaide.

I stayed in Adelaide Paringa for 8 days because of a conference and a few days of R&R. What can I say, it is a nifty place, accessible to the Rundle Mall, very cozy and nice accommodation, excellent staff (especially Anita) and quite affordable if you book early. If my travels take me back to Adelaide, I'd sure stay in Adelaide Paringa. The place is unbeatable. I travelled on business

Excellent location, great staff and excellent tariffs. Close to shopping, entertainment, dining, sporting arenas, medical appointments and the pancake kitchen. As a female great place to shop and drop so you can fit more shopping in
Andrew Commented on - 08-Jul-2016 02:36 PM
Can't beat the rate, clean and tidy, friendly reception staff. Perfect for a night in town, great location central to so much, cheaper than a taxi to outer suburbs. Great Hindley Street vibe, no need to worry as the Police Station is directly across the road.

Our stay in Paringa was as expected - clean, comfortable rooms and very affordable. On arrival, the hotel doesn't look like much but we would definately stay again. The Adelaide Paringa is central, making our stay so easy. The pancake place downstairs had some amazing irish coffees and the hotel was very close to some of the yummiest Korean, Italian and Japanese restaurants we've had. The staff were accommodating and were a treat to converse with in the mornings.

This is an older property but perfectly adequate for a short stay. Our third floor room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was well equipped with a mini fridge, kettle, coffee and tea, iron, hair dryer and flat screen TV. Breakfast packs with cereal etc were available for purchase. Staff were friendly and helpful. The office is only open during business hours but assistance is always available from the sister property across the street. WIFI only available in the lobby but it was free and fast.

Although we only stayed 1 night at the Adelaide Paringa, we were totally impressed with the friendly staff, fast and smooth check in and out. Prior to arrival, I've sent a few queries and the responses were within the same day. Not forgetting it's located on the street with many eateries, a stroll across the street brings you to the Rundle Mall and close to all the bus stops. The family room was spacious and comes with a queen and 2 singles and there is also a small dining table in the room. Just opposite was the car rental office which makes picking up the car very easy. We definately would recommend staying here for value and accessibility.

The Adelaide Paringa was a little gem of a hotel to stay in. Clean and comfortable, lovey staff. Right in the middle of town and close to everything I needed to access. Would stay again and recommend it.

An easy place to stay, right in the Adelaide CBD, what more do you want? Forget the higher priced accommodation for this area, stay at the Adelaide Paringa. Right next door to the night clubs, eateries and even the Police station if you require,
anonymous Commented on - 20-May-2016 11:50 AM
Our room was right at the back and remarkably quiet - heard an ambulance once, a fire engine once in all the days we were there - yet a few steps from the main street. Simple, yet everything we needed, and a very comfortable bed. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful with us old folk working out how to get our boarding passes for the plane. We spent 8 very happy days, very close to everything, transport and restaurants.
Michael Commented on - 04-May-2016 01:15 PM
If you want to walk most places Paringa is for you. If you want a plush setting and elegant decor, then the Paringa is not for you. It is perfectly comfortable and if you're only there to sleep at night then you really can't go wrong.
Anonymous Commented on - 18-Apr-2016 02:08 PM
The hotel is located in the CBD and very close to food shops. Bars are just nearby, with the 24 hours mini-market walking distance from the property and the police station is located just across the road. The only drawback is the parking located in the building opposite is very tight. The Adelaide Paringa is suitable for families with children, and has free WIFI in the lobby area. General a good place to stay
Dianne Commented on - 21-Mar-2016 01:42 PM
This hotel wasn't expensive at all, especially considering it was during Adelaide's March Madness period. It doesn't have 24 hour checkin/checkout which can be annoying but easily worked around it. The room is pleasant enough, no views at all by everything you need. You wouldn't want to spend much time in the room but comfortable enough.

Our family of 4 stayed in a Family Room for 3 nights in December 2015. The room was basic but the location was great. We paid an extra $18.00 per night for parking across the road at the Miller Apartments car-park. In terms of the room, it had a small table and chairs, a dressing table and a shower/bath. The TV was in an awkward position, on top of the wardrobe which made watching a little difficult, there was a window but no outlook. The was free WIFI in the lobby and magazines, newspapers and complimentary tea/coffee, water in the lobby lounge. It was by no means luxury but good for what we paid. The staff were pleasant and helpful. On check-in we had several bags and the receptionist helped us carry our bags to our room - thank you. On check-out the Receptionist gave our 2 year old a "Circus Goodie Bag" that was appreciated. Good value and I would return.

We stayed here for three nights, this hotel had a good offer. The room was basic but lovely, bathroom was dated. Only drawback was the room isn't serviced during the stay, only every 4 nights I think. That wasn't great when you run out of toilet paper or needed a change of towels as the weather was very hot, you had to ask at the desk. The desk isn't open all night so if you are checking in early or late it has be be done across the street at Miller Apartments. Location is right beside the Rundle Mall and Chinatown is about a 10 minute walk which is fabulous. The tram line is just around the corner which will take you to the beach which is a great day or evening outing. The areas is not great at night time however the Police Station are located across the road which is good.

I've given the Paringa a 4 out of 5, but it's probably more like a 3.5. The property is a bit rough around the edges, but the rooms are clean and basic. The staff at reception are very friendly and will store expensive items for you, if you don't want to leave them in your room. Although the rooms aren't serviced daily (they're done every three days), you can request basic housekeeping if you wish. It's frustrating that reception closes at 9:00pm, as it means you can't use the water fountain or free wifi downstairs. I've stayed at basic hotels that are better, but overall the Paringa is good value for money and I would stay there again.

Was a great little spot and a very reasonable price for its location; close to the mall and opposite a police station was handy. The area has a few nightclubs which I imagined on a Friday / Saturday night could be a bit busy but nothing unsafe for a city. Room was clean and as described on the website. Found it very comfortable and a perfect spot for what I needed. The staff were wonderful and ensured everything went smoothly. Thanks for a great stay.

A little tricky to find but this could be an advantage. Just fine for our needs and value for money. Comfy beds, very friendly / helpful staff, little cafe close by for a great breakfast, handy to lots of restaurants and the Rundle Mall.

This is a budget hotel, with a little bit extra. LOVED the location. It was clean and had everything we needed. Very central to everything, there is great free transport not far away. Rundle Mall is just across the road and plenty of restaurants closeby. Price is great, but if you are fussy about the little things, then this is probably not the place for you - we will definitely stay again. Room was plenty big enough, even had a wee sitting room with tea / coffee making facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Laundry can be done across the road at the Miller Apartments for a small cost. Free internet is available in the lobby during office hours. Thanks for a great stay.

We stopped here for one night on our arrival into Adelaide, enroute to the Barossa Valley. Our room was quite basic but clean and the bed was comfortable. The room looked out onto a main road which was very noisy late into the night. The hotel is a convenient location within walking distance of shops and tourist attractions. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, big soft towels, coffee making facilities, flat screen TV to watch from the bed. Walking distance to Convention Centre and with mini supermarket and restaurants right next door. Staff were very helpful and friendly. If you are a light sleeper like me then make sure you ask in advance for a room at the back of the hotel - no view but very quiet.

We had a marvellous time whilst staying at the Adelaide Paringa for our sixth or seventh stay, starting after we chased the 2014 TDF around France. Booking our stay on the Paringa Website in September 2015, we received a great Ambassador Card discount for our 8 night stay. The Hotel Management, Booking Manager, Reception Managers and Housekeeping staff were all fabulous to us. I can not praise this hotel more highly than saying we would never consider staying anywhere else in Adelaide. It is situated 20 metres from King William Road in the centre of the CBD, with access to the tram, bus and train all within 100m. For Seniors it is free travel for 14 days with a Metro Card which is given to you as you exit the Airport I-Desk. A free bus circulates around the CBD and drops you outside the great Adelaide Zoo, with the charming Giant Pandas and numerous other very interesting creatures in a visitor-friendly setting. The King William Street tram takes you to the TDU Village in Victoria Square in 2 minutes, where you can see the mechanics in action and meet the cycle team members. Adelaide is the most tourist-accessible and best laid-out city in Australia and the Adelaide Paringa gives you the ideal springboard to see all the interesting places South Australia can boast. Why look further than the Paringa.

Adelaide Paringa is a budget hotel in the city centre. It is only a few minutes walk to an amazing array of useful sites, including the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Festival Centre, Adelaide Railway Station, Rundle Street shopping mall, many excellent restaurants and cafes, the SA Museum and the Art Gallery. The hotel is basic, but the bed was comfortable and was fairly spacious. The staff at reception were helpful and cheerful. There is no dining room, the breakfast option is a small package of cereal left in the room however you are walking distance to a number of fabulous cafes. The hotel is only a short walk from the tram and bus services around the city centre and North Adelaide. The reception is closed overnight however free wifi is available in the lobby while reception is open.

Stayed one night in Adelaide Paringa with friends. We had a room for the two of us which was nice (change from dorms). The hotel is very well located, close by foot to all the shops, good restaurants, the river, the oval and botanical gardens. The rooms are quite nice and there is free wifi in the lobby. Weid that the reception closes quite early, 5:00pm on Sunday. The bathroom is nice and the shower has enough pressure

The stay at the Adelaide Paringa is alway great, everyone is helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, the heating and airconditioners work wel however towels should be more abundant when you stay more than one night.. It is well and truly affordable for low income families and it is a hotspot as you do not have to walk to far for everything.

I really enjoyed my stay here, it's very central and where everything happens in Adelaide. We arrived in the evening and was recommended to visit Peel and Leigh Street for dinner and drinks - a 2 minute walk away. The place is perfect for those who like food and drink. The room itself was basic and nothing special but a great for a stay in Adelaide and a place to base yourself. If you want luxury go somewhere else. I would definitely return here in the future. It's simple, cheap and has a comfy bed. Staff are very welcoming and helpful - this place is well worth the money.

Clean, comfortable and an excellent location. It's a really basic hotel and has out-dated decor, but the prices are cheap. The room was clean, quiet & air conditioned, & the bed was comfortable, which is pretty much what I'd also look for in a fancy hotel. The best thing is the location, it's only minutes from the Rundle Mall, buses, trams & the hip restaurants of Peel Street. The Front Desk staff were always friendly & helpful. So if you're looking for a decent budget accommodation I would highly recommend the Adelaide Paringa.

I needed somewhere close to the city mall for an overnight stay, Adelaide Paringa is cheap and convenient. I was allocated room 509, the corridors are a bit of a rabbit warren so was glad I didn't have to try out any emergency exit/drill. Toiletries, tea and coffee are supplied so everything I required was there. Bathroom had good hot water supply and a nice clean shower curtain. The jelly beans provided as a welcome gift was a sweet surprise. I was glad I arrived prior to 9pm so the reception was still open. There is a small alleyway outside reception for taxi or vehicle access.

We travel extensively in Australia and abroad and this accommodation has all the extra's one expects, but rarely gets in more expensive hotels. We appreciate the ideal bedside reading lights, the provision of free ground coffee with percolator and how centrally situated it is. Together with the usual provisions of tea, kettle, shampoo etc there was a refrigerator and efficient air conditioning provided. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

I have just returned from staying 6 nights & 7 days at the Adelaide Paringa. The staff were very friendly upon arrival and through out my stay. The room was spacious and clean and we had clean towels each day of our stay. We have seen from other reviewers about the noise on Hindley Street, especially on a Friday & Saturday night. We did expect noice because we were staying in a major city but the noise did not bother us. It was the noise of people enjoying their weekend out. The only down fall was you have to have the air conditioner on through out your stay as it does get stuffy, especially if you have windows facing away. But besides that we can not fault the hotel. It was good value for money and look forward to staying with them again

Enjoyed my stay at Adelaide Paringa. Loved my hotel room as it was spacious and it provided me with everything I needed; fridge, towels, large TV, radio, alarm clock and even magazines to read. My bed was very comfortable and I had a total of 5 pillows. Yes you can hear noises from the outside at about 1am which woke me up and it was from the people who were still rambling on the streets. It was unfortunate that my flight to Adelaide was delayed due to the thunderstorm as I would have loved to stay in Paringa longer. The receptionists were professional, friendly and helped me with all my queries.

You won't get a better location, transport (tram, bus, train) North Terrace, Mall eateries. Only $86 night had 3 nights (Tuesday - Thursday), very quiet. Staff extremely helpful. Very good lounge at reception, with free spring water and capsule coffee. Twin room had a good TV, ensuite, table, small fridge, unit for luggage, kettle. Good lighting and airconditioning. Dated style in a heritage building but suited us well. Room a bit small, went to an apartment with kitchen for another 9 nights but missed the Paringa. With so many cheap eateries a couple doesn't really need a kitchen. Close to Casino for meals too

We always stay at the Paringa for our annual boy's weekend away in Adelaide. Value for money, especially with it being so close to everything. One doesn't expect 5 star facilities for the amount paid and we actually spend little time in the rooms anyway. We will be back next year!

Great location, access to all of Adelaides great spots. Managed to find night free parking at Hindmarsh Square. Water pressure in the shower was excellent. T.V. well located and close enough for the remote to work! Most of the front desk staff were lovely. Cleaning staff not so polite and seemed like they couldn't be bothered. Over all would definitely stay again.

Adelaide Paringa is ideal walking distance to/from Adelaide Zoo where I attended a weekend conference & so handy for various eateries. My problem was there was nothing to complain about! It was great to be able to leave luggage Sunday morning & collect in the afternoon after the conference & get a taxi back to the airport.

Watery Commented on - 16-Aug-2013 12:06 PM
Considering the low price that I paid for the room, it's well worth the $$. If you are going for luxury, then forget about this hotel as it's only very basic. But it's more than adequate for me as I am only there to sleep and wants a central location and clean room.
Room was clean and adequate sized. I was able to open up a big sized luggage and even place a fully opened up baby stroller in the room and still have some walking space around the room. In fact, there was even space to put in a baby cot as well. Room was also quiet. We didn't hear any sound from outside at all during our entire five nights stay. Maybe it helps that we were on the fifth level (highest level) and the last room which is the furthest from the lift.
Staff were helpful and attentive to our needs. I requested only upon check in for a tub to bathe my baby in, and there were nice enough to run over to another hotel to borrow the tub for our use. They were even attentive enough to get us small blankets for the baby even though We had not thought of requesting for it.
Location of the hotel was central. It's well within walking distance to many places and shopping areas. Restaurants were also abundant at the hotel area. As for convenience of public transport near the hotel, can't really comment on that except that the hotel is very near a car rental shop which was exactly what we wanted as We had wanted to rent a car to travel out of the city.
Tip: if you are arriving at the airport, don't bother taking the public transport to the hotel unless you are a solo traveller because the bus ticket cost 13aud per person But the taxi fare is only about 25aud (luckily the hotel had advised us on this prior to our arrival so We were able to travel comfortably to the hotel in a taxi rather than carry a baby plus a big luggage and stroller up the bus)

We stayed here for two nights. The room on the 5th floor, with a tv and lots of storing space, a double bed and a table with 2 chairs. The shower was hot and we got very nice fluffy towels and all amenities (soap, shampoo, bath gel, bodylotion). Location on Hindley Street is great, with restaurants and shops all within close range. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't care much for luxury, but just wants an affordable and clean place to stay.

Arrived here after a few days on Kangaroo Island, from the very quiet to the very busy. The night we stayed was a friday night and because this area is the "Kings Cross" of Adelaide it was busy and noisy. Our room had double glazing and helped block the noise. The room was west facing and hot when we arrived but the air con worked well and cooled the room down. The rooms are what you pay for, not flash but clean and there is a bar fridge. The staff are friendly and helpful. The little cafe below which is open long hours is OK for breakfast and a night cap, if you are so inclined. There is a $10 continental breakfast in the room if you want that, just a few boxes of ceral but OK if you are in a hurry or dont to go out . Whilst its on the night area of Adelaide, its the quieter end of the street and for the shoppers, almost in Rundle Mall.
Bruce Commented on - 12-Apr-2013 12:04 PM
The staff were great and had managed an early check in for us despite the frantic pace and great demand for accommodation in Adelaide in March. It was a hot day and they had turned our air conditioning on in advance. The room was not terribly spacious, but very clean and with comfortable bedding. We were so satisfied that we booked this hotel once again for our final night in Adelaide.

Stayed three nights. Hotel in great location near Rundle St mall. Lots of places to eat and drink on Hindley Street. Most of the tours will pick up from the hotel too which is convenient. Wifi only works in reception which is frustrating. As a lone traveller u need to keep in touch with people. This was my only bug bear though. Everything else was spot on.
Anonymous Commented on - 12-Apr-2013 11:56 AM
it is right next to the main shopping area (Rundle Mall) which is to the right as you leave the lane. A 10 minute walk through Rundle Mall takes you to Rundle Street, which is far more up market and has loads of great pubs and restaurants (check out Scoozi for Italian food - delicious!). A 10 minute walk up the main road takes you to Victoria Square and the tram to Glenelg, the beach. A 5 minute walk the other direction takes you to the Adelaide Cricket Oval.
elle Commented on - 12-Apr-2013 11:55 AM
The hotel is situated on Hindley Street, which is Adelaide's version of a red light district. To be fair it is a very tame area, with the strip clubs etc being further down the street (to the left as you exit the lane from the hotel on Hindley Street). The area was certainly a very quiet area compared to any town or city centre I've been to in the UK and there is a police station right across the street.
